Games artist and tools developer Nathaniel Albright, also known as 3D CG Guru, has introduced the Maya Cascadeur Bridge.
This useful free Maya add-on simplifies the task of seamlessly transferring data between Maya and Cascadeur, Nekki’s AI-assisted character animation software.
With just a few clicks, the Maya Cascadeur Bridge enables users to send rigged characters to Cascadeur and bring animation data back to Maya. This one-click process is designed to streamline the workflow between the two platforms.
While the add-on is capable of working with both characters and scene objects, its primary function is to facilitate the transfer of rigged characters from Maya to Cascadeur and subsequently bring animation data back. The automatic conversion of characters from Maya’s HumanIK (HIK) rig structure to Cascadeur’s Quick Rigging Tool is supported, including twist and roll bones.
Users have the flexibility to choose whether to transfer the entire scene, only selected objects, or specific Object Sets. Additionally, users can opt to update only models, textures, or animation during subsequent updates.
The Maya Cascadeur Bridge is compatible with Maya 2022 and newer versions, and it is available as a free download.
